Senior Backend Engineer (Java and Spring Boot)

An international cybersecurity and telco security firm is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and optimize backend services powering large-scale telemetry and device management platforms. The role is based in Budapest with a hybrid model (2–3 days onsite).

Description

You will work on backend services handling thousands of messages per minute, including schema design, REST / GraphQL API development, and performance tuning. The role involves close collaboration with frontend and tech leads, active participation in code reviews, and a strong focus on testing and reliability.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional Java experience; 3+ years with Spring Boot
• Knowledge of asynchronous / reactive programming (WebFlux, RxJava)
• Messaging / streaming exposure (Kafka, MQTT, RabbitMQ)
• Strong SQL and schema design skills (Postgres)
• Familiarity with Docker / Kubernetes and CI / CD pipelines
• Excellent English communication skills
• Nice to have : TimescaleDB, InfluxDB, Go / Rust / Python for tooling, or Node.js.
