Software is at the heart of all aspects of Formlabs products. We aim to bring  ground-breaking 3D printers to the desks and shops of designers, artists, and professionals the world over. Our software is integral to ensuring exceptional experiences with our products as it bridges the transition from digital models to beautiful physical form in 3D printing. The Software Team develops the printer firmware that drives our hardware, and PreForm, the most powerful and intuitive desktop print application with advanced 3D geometric and print algorithms.

We are seeking a dynamic  Software Engineering Manager  to lead our  PreForm desktop application team  in Budapest, significantly impacting the additive manufacturing (AM) and 3D printing space. As a Software Manager within our team, you will lead and manage a team of talented software engineers, and work with remote teams to plan and execute large projects specifically related to PreForm's evolution. You will be responsible for a diverse range of initiatives, including  core 3D printing algorithm development within PreForm, sophisticated 3D rendering, desktop application development, and intuitive UI / UX design  that directly shapes the user's interaction with our printers. Your leadership will be crucial in driving innovation and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions for PreForm, ultimately shaping the future of 3D printing.

• Working knowledge of C++ (or managed a team of C++ developers)
• Substantial experience as a people manager and technical leader, specifically leading teams focused on desktop application development or complex software products.
• Expertise in designing and architecting complex software systems, with a deep understanding of design patterns, reliability, and scalability, particularly relevant to desktop applications.
• Deep knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the entire software development lifecycle, including release processes for desktop products.
• Demonstrated success in partnering effectively with product or program management teams to translate business needs into technical solutions for user-facing applications.
• Comfortable managing technical risk, making strategic decisions for your organization, and thriving in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
• A strong commitment to growing the skills and fully leveraging the talent of your team members.
• A proven track record of managing teams that successfully develop and ship new features for software products, ideally desktop applications.
