Join our Haskellers team at Stack Builders ! We’re looking for an experienced functional programming engineer to support a long-term project that is almost entirely built in Haskell. This is a staff augmentation role where you’ll contribute to the development and optimization of a mission-critical application with high scalability and data integrity requirements.

We’re seeking a part-time remote contractor (20–30 hours per week) with strong Haskell expertise and the ability to collaborate on database and infrastructure enhancements. This role requires a proactive professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and takes pride in delivering robust, high-quality code.
Requirements
- Advanced English (spoken and written). You will be directly communicating with the client.
- Must be able to work as an independent contractor . For candidates based in the US, an LLC, S-Corp, or C-Corp structure is required
- 5+ years of professional Haskell experience with outstanding programming skills.
- Strong experience with Yesod and database-related libraries (Persistent, Esqueleto).
- Solid background in writing clean, testable, and scalable code.
- Experience applying property-based testing.
- Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills with excellent verbal and written communication .
- Availability to work 20–30 hours per week and overlap 4 hours daily with EDT.
- Bonus : Frontend experience with TypeScript / React.
Responsibilities
Architect and build backend solutions in Haskell (95% of work).Implement and optimize database operations (Persistent, Esqueleto).Collaborate on infrastructure enhancements to ensure scalability and performance.Contribute to code quality practices, including property-based testing (QuickCheck, related libraries).Occasionally collaborate on frontend components with TypeScript (e.g., React, jQuery, Bootstrap, Webpack).Participate in agile rituals : stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives.Engage directly with the client during rituals, providing updates, gathering requirements, and ensuring alignment with their needs.The projected hourly range for this position is from $55.00 to $60.00 / hour, determined by the candidate's interview outcome, skills, experience, education, and alignment with market data.
