The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing large-scale, complex projects and ensuring their successful delivery on-time, within scope and budget, in order to contribute significantly to the organization's strategic objectives and deliver tangible benefits. He / she also sets, manages and fulfills customer expectations.
The Senior Project Manager will apply the relevant methodology for the project cycle. In case of Agile or Hybrid methodologies, the Senior Project manager will endeavor to act as a Scrum Master, driving efficiency, collaboration, empowerment, and value creation based on Agile principles.
The Senior Project Manager can be assigned to different types of projects :
- Pre-sales projects, in particular managing bids as projects.
- Post-sales projects, in particular Transition & Transformation projects or upsell projects.
- Transversal efficiency improvement projects.
- Project financials accountability using Business Case used in contract as target.
- Accountable to implement and track Project Change Control upon variance from signed Statement Of Work (or Project contractual commitment).
The Senior Project Manager can also represent the project management community in pre-sales, by promoting the value of project management to the customer and by sizing the project and calculating the associated cost. When possible, the Senior Project Manager who was involved in pre-sales also manages the project after contract signature. On the assigned project the Senior Project Manager can report functionally into a Project Director, a Customer Program Manager or Director, or a Client Executive.
Key accountabilities :
Define and oversee project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility for large-scale, complex projects. Ensure that any commitments made are feasible and achievable.Develop, maintain, and adapt detailed project plans, schedules, and milestones, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and objectives.Collect, rationalise, analyse, and utilise multiple points of project data to inform decision-making and drive project performance.Organise project tasks and allocate resources, ensuring that significant projects are successfully delivered on-time, within scope, and budget.Implement and maintain the project governance structure, ensuring alignment with organisational policies and standards, adapting to the needs of each project.Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate change control processes and tools.Manage project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, ensuring alignment with business objectives.Define, manage and realise project benefits, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and customer business needs.Develop and maintain quality assurance processes, ensuring project deliverables meet the required quality standards, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and resolve issues across significant or complex projects, maintaining a risk register and issue log.Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and other stakeholders, managing their expectations throughout the project lifecycle.Responsible to provide feedback to the relevant line-managers for the performance reviews of all project management resources contributing to the project led by the Senior Project Manager.In case of under-performance of project management resource on the project led by the Senior Project Manager, support the line-manager with the development of a performance improvement plan.about you
